The Culleenamore Races is an annual horse racing event that takes place on the beaches of Strandhill, Co. Sligo. Set on a make-shift track and organised around the falling tides, the entrants in these races are child jockeys, sometimes as young as ten.
To accurately depict the races and evoke the wild nature of this traditional Irish event meant capturing both the youth of the riders and the speed of the horses as they ploughed up the sandy surface.
